A New Addition to Our Family

Beach Bungalow Time

I’m so excited because Kyle and I spent the whole weekend installing a window in the living room where we currently live. Oh, you thought we would be adding a living thing to our family? LOL… I thought the title would trick ya!

Anyway, this has been about a year coming (or more). The place where we live was like a cave. There were windows on opposite sides of the apartment, but none in the middle (so I guess that makes it sound more like a tunnel than a cave, but I think you get what I mean) — except for a random tiny bathroom window in the living room which faces or neighbor’s backyard and every time they go to the beach or wash a blanket, they hang up their blanket right over our tiny ounce of light coming through that stupid window that I hate so much.

The window that we originally wanted from Home Depot was discontinued just as we got our landlord’s approval to do the project. So then we had to hunt for another window that our landlord liked. It ended up being a lot more expensive, but he really wanted a casement style window, so he was willing to pay the price.

We picked up our window on friday and now it’s officially installed, plus we have the first layer of stucco on the outside, and joint compound on the inside.

I can’t wait to show you all the finished project! I’m so excited to finally have a real source of controllable sunlight in the living room, plus an extra place for a nice ocean breeze to come in on the hot days. It’s been pretty hot the last few weeks so this is perfect timing!

Anyway, here is a sneak peak:

Don’t mind the vacuum. We were using that to vacuum up the debris that fell down between the studs.

Stay tuned! And subscribe so you’re notified when we post the entire process along with the finished project of our shiny new window!

Thanks Kelly! Yeah I agree, if it’s too bright (not that I’m sure that’s possible, lol) you can always cover up windows, but if you don’t have windows you can’t let light in! It has been so nice!!! 🙂
