Horseback Riding on the Beach

July 12th was Kyle and my 5 year wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary, my Love!

We went to one of our favorite places, Red Lobster, for lunch. We got the coconut shrimp appetizer and we ordered Crab Linguini Alfredo to go. Of course you get those lovely complimentary Cheddar Bay Biscuits which are delish, and we got a side salad with our pasta which we ate then. We saved the pasta (plus some extra biscuits) for our dinner at home.

After lunch we headed to Happy Trails ranch to go horseback riding on the beach.

My horse’s name was Duncan. He actually really enjoyed the water and wanted to walk in the waves that were lapping up on the shore.

We never learnt Kyle’s horse’s name. And he didn’t like the water at all. Every time a little wave would come he would run up away from the water, lol.

Here are some “action” pics we got of our “two hour tour, a two hour tour” (in Giligan Island style song).

Don’t we look like pros? LOL! I just found out this was only Kyle’s second time riding a horse. I didn’t know that. So his first time riding a horse was when we did it in Cabo on our honeymoon! So I feel really special that I’m the only one he’s ridden horses with, lol!

Here he is 5 years ago, his first time on a horse:

And here’s me, rockin’ out like a true cowgirl (this is probably only like my 5th or 6th time on a horse):

For some reason I got the spooked horse that stopped in his tracks when he got scared at the end of our ride in Cabo. We kind of lost site of the pack. Kyle took a pic of me and my “loyal” steed from afar:

Anyway, we had fun riding horsies on the beach again, but let’s just say our bums hurt about 10 minutes into it so we had to tough it out the last hour and 50 minutes, lol!

After horsey time, we went surfing, and I have to say I am getting better. But I still can only take the white water waves. I realized I need to go out when it’s low tide because I just can’t get situated, turning the board and jumping on, etc. if I can’t reach the floor.

But I’ve taken a few good waves and stood up on the board from start to finish now and it’s very exhilarating and makes me feel so proud when I can do it well. Kyle is pretty darn good, and he’s not afraid to catch the big waves way out. It’s fun to see him catch waves too! 🙂

Well that’s all for now. More summer adventures. I have some other updates coming soon about our beach bungalow and I have a giveaway coming up, and I’ll give you a hint: If you’re going to be doing any tiling any time soon, wait for this giveaway, because you won’t want to miss it!
