Kitchen Renovation Day 17 – New Roofing and Siding

Home Remodel Time

Since we’re basically done with the kitchen (except for the final final reveal) I wanted to go back outside to show you a bit more progress that happened on the exterior of the kitchen. But first, let’s go back to the beginning…

Here’s what our house looked like at first:

Then we destroyed the pantry:

Then we built the framing of the walls of the new kitchen:

Then Kyle put up the roofing framing:

Then we put up tar paper and plywood for the roof and exterior walls:

Well, at this point, we now had the completed roofing and there was just a smidgen of siding left to put up on the right side of the telephone pole:

(Sorry about that big shadow in these pics… they were taken in the beginning of July, so the sun was really far north at this point).

So now the front of the house had a clean roof line going all the way straight across the top with matching roof and all!

At this point, we still had to fix a couple little things and paint the house and such and I’ll show you the officially finished exterior (along with this) soon! So stay tuned!

Wow what a huge project!! Great job! What’s with the telephone poll going right through your house? Was the original house added on to around the pole?

Hi Lindsay. Thanks! and yes, the telephone pole was originally on the side of the house a bit, then they built a pantry around the telephone pole. And now that we rebuilt it, the telephone pole actually only goes through the front of the roof, straight down the side of the house, and we had to build a little things around it to make it more visually appealing, so it’s not actually inside, which is good! :)

  2. Pretty cool. Can’t wait to see it.
