A few days ago, I told you about my DIY hanging light for our kitchen. Now I’m going to show you how I made two standing lamps out of pvc pipes. And the heights can be changed by adding different lengths of pvc pipe along with a coupling.
Just like the hanging light, I used some extension cords as the wiring of my pvc light stands.
Here’s what I did:

So there you have it. We soldered extension cord wire to a light socket plug and made a bunch of different pvc lengths to make a light stand that is up to 7 feet tall. Now we can take these lights anywhere around the house very easily, or even take them outside if we have a patio party at night, or we’re working on something in the yard after dark (which is very nice these days in the winter when it gets dark at 5pm!). These are also useful to take brighter photos indoors.
What do you think? Try it out for yourself. They come in handy for lots of things.

Very clever!
Thanks Elf

Thanks Lindsey
Great idea. These would probably help with photographing in dark spots, too.

Thanks Vicki. I actually got this idea from this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxN8_0kNJPc but I had to customize it a bit for how I wanted it.
Love it! Pinning to our boards!
Awesome, thanks!
