When we redid our master bathroom, lighting was definitely part of the process.
The lighting shape was similar, and we stuck with the three lamps, but the after is a much more updated fixture overall.
Murray Feiss bathroom lighting has a ton of really unique options.
If I was redoing a bathroom right now, I think I would choose bronze finishes. In our final master bathroom, we ended up with some brushed nickel finishes, and some chrome finishes. This had mainly to do with cost of materials. The light fixture we chose was brushed nickel, and I really like the shape of it.
But I am really digging bronze these days:
This one is a bit more modern, but still with the older look of bronze:
They also have some with extremely ornate designs:
Or if you like very clean lines in design:
Or what if you need lots of lighting?:
When renovating our bathroom, we also decided to put the switches on dimmers. This costs about 5 times as much as plain old regular switches, but it will make a drastic difference in the ambiance of your relaxing shower or bath. I highly recommend putting dimmers on any switch in the house. We had some in our living room as well, and it was really nice, especially for when we wanted to watch a movie, but still wanted to see our popcorn bowl.
In our kitchen, we used recessed lighting and pendant lighting, and I really like the look of pendant lighting. We didn’t put our kitchen lights on dimmers because you definitely want to see what you’re doing when cooking. We also hooked up under cabinet lighting which we put on a separate switch, and that worked well for when you wanted dim lighting in the kitchen.
The kitchen is by far one of my favorite projects we completed and we’ll have posts about that in the coming months, so stay tuned!
What kind of lighting do you like? One lamp, 3 lamp, 5 lamp? Do you like sconces, pendant lights, or recessed lighting? Let us know in a comment!
