Hey guys, it’s Kyle again… remember me?
Sometimes we need to have fun and take a little vacation for a day. For me, it was a track day. First let me define what a track day is. A company or business will rent a race track for the day. Then this company will sell admission. You get to bring your motorcycle to the race track and ride around as fast as you want. This might sound a little dangerous but it really isn’t. There are no cars to worry about, no dirt or oil in the road to worry about, and everyone is going in the same direction. I think it is safer than riding on the streets.
The track is about a 5 hour drive from where we live, so my friends and I left the night before and got a hotel room (yes, I left the wife at home). Cheap hotels… you get exactly what you pay for: A place to sleep and that’s it. The next morning we got up and went to the track.
Here is our camp, if you want to call it that. My bike is the one in the middle. The black one with the silver graphics on the side. The guys in the picture are my co-workers. They are the people that I went with.
My bike again. It is a Suzuki DRZ400 Supermotard. Basically it is a dirt bike with tires from a sportbike. It’s a lot of fun to ride.
We are parked way down there. The name of the racetrack that we are at is Streets of Willow, hence the big word “Streets” on the building. There are three racetracks at this place. Streets is the medium size track.
This is a picture of someone racing around the track. Since I was the only one tacking pictures, I am not in any of them. I am not sure who this is. Let’s just call him guy1.
Some more people on the track. I don’t know who guy2 is in this picture, but guy3 is one of my co-workers.
A little bit better view of the track, and some more guys riding. This makes the track look bigger than it is. I believe this track is 1.75 miles long.
The straight a way. Depending on the motorcycle, speeds can get up to about 130-140. The bike I was riding will only go about 95 on the straight a way.
Another view of the track, from where we were parked.
I rode up to the top of the racetrack and took a picture facing back down towards where we were parked. It is hard to get a picture of the whole track.
The main track, next to the one we were on, was rented out to race cars. They were small formula 1 looking cars. They looked pretty cool and were going pretty fast.
A close up of one of the cars racing around the main track.
It was hard to take a picture of the cars. My camera goes a little slow and the cars were fast.
On the drive home there was a sand storm. It is hard to see from the pictures, but it was a big sand storm up ahead. I have never seen one of these in person, until now. We had to drive right through it. It was like driving through fog in the middle of the day. Crazy.
You can see the sand a little better in this picture in the distance. I didn’t take any pictures of when we were actually driving through it.
That was one fun day of racing and riding with friends. We all had a great time and no one crashed (not from our group anyway).
P.S. No humans were hurt during the making of this blog.

I can’t believe you left your wife at home while you went and played. I bet Lisha was so sad to be without you
Good job on the blog post, Kyle.
I love you, my hubster!

Whew, that seems scary but fun!
Kyle says it’s safer than riding a motorcycle on the road. And it makes sense… there are no unexpected things, like cars coming around the corner out of nowhere, for instance

Thanks for your comment, Rachel. It is fun and it’s way safer than the road, like Lisha said…

Lisha sent us Twitterites over here to give you some blog love.
You owe her a kiss!
I could NEVER get on a bike with any type of motor. Too scary! But it looks like you guys had a total blast on the track!
Thanks Meagan. I will make sure to give Lisha a kiss. Yes, we had a lot of fun at the track. Thanks for your comment.
